new to boating

HI-My father in law has not used his mariah 1990 1850z for about 3 years so i decided to see if i could get it running.I pumped out the old gas(used 6.9 qt hand pump for oil connected to fuel line to fuel pump worked great)took a chance not changing the plugs, cleaned cap and rotor and made sure all hoses were tight.Put fresh premium gas with sea foam in it.I hooked the water up and fired it up.It actually started and i was very excited until i noticed water and oil mixed backing up through the valve cover going to the air filter. My father in law thought draining the water from the lower hoses was winterizing it.My question is if its a cracked intake, how much roughly will it cost to fix and could it be something else that is problematic in 4.3 gm motors. Thanks for any help with this problem.

oh boy.....it could & will likely be something more than just a cracked intake. Leaving water in the engine can crack the block which may mean you in in for a rebuild or replacement. And..this isn't a problem specific to 4.3's but to owners who dont properly winterize their motors. :(

btw...welcome aboard.
