Hello.....

Hi everyone,
I am in the market for a small bowrider (18-20 feet) and I stumbled upon Mariah Boats. It seems that everyone generally loves their boats. I am looking at original Mariah bowriders 2001, and older. I know that their are general things to check when looking at a used boat, however is there anything MAriah specific?

Thanks,
Zack

Re: Hello.....

Zack,

Great choice!!! Not that we're biased, or anything

It's really not much different than looking at any brand of that vintage... There were numerous items like dashes, seat frames, doors, etc. that were made in house and not available any longer (except for the rare occurrence on eBay, but the price reflects it!). But honestly, think about how difficult it would be to obtain those items from a manufacturer still in business. Even Sea Ray or Four Winns would likely laugh at you for asking for such an item 10+ years old.

So basically, it's a matter of looking at the key items. Engine, outdrive, gages, control systems, etc. are all made by companies still around and fully supported. Items like the hull, stringers, transom, etc. are all structural and something you should look carefully at with ANY boat. Items like fiberglass doors, seat shells, plastic parts, etc. are Mariah made and extremely difficult/expensive to repair/replace, so watch out for those. Items like seat vinyl, carpet, tops, etc. are mostly cosmetic and can be reproduced at numerous repair facilities.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask anything else in your search, and good luck!
