96 Shabah 200 New Owner

Hi MOC,

I joined a couple weeks ago and had been looking for a solid first boat. I found a nice shape 1996 200 and it is fun. I have a lot to learn about boating. First time out was funny as I learned what the neutral start and electronic choke do. Our second trip was Father's day with my boys and it was like I knew what I was doing. Launched smooth and loaded up like a pro. Even without my wife there. Sure made up for the looks on my wife's face from our first trip and getting it started. Only took 5 minutes to figure out what I was missing however not good when it is her first glimpse at what I bought.

Good news is solid boat with just a some TLC work to be done.

I will post some questions once I search around some more.

looking for info on bow covers, and correct bimini install. Mine is attached to the windows and shakes side to side too much for me (when stowed). I replaced the back straps with posts. Nice unless moving. I am sure some adjustments to the posts and moving the forward mounts to the deck might help.

I will post a couple photos once I get settled.

Thanks for the info and board.

Carter

Hi Carter and welcome to the club!

Great to hear your having fun with your new Mariah and when you're ready, we're here to help you keep her in top shape!

As for the Bow cover, if you need one, that will be a custom item that you should have made locally if possible and moving the Bimini main mounts to the deck as you said should firm up frame but remember, the Bimini will drop down an equal distance between the windshield to the new deck mounts.
