Firstly, welcome to the club Dodger, when you say non existant wake, would it be a flatish wake at speeds over 30mph or basically a flat wake up to an including 30?
When I installed my trim tabs the wake did flatten some, but is still great for wake and knee boarding. Have a look at some of the SX18 photos in the gallery and see if yours is flatter than others are.
    Good luck

Good luck on your test drive, you will find these boats handle fantastic at any speed, if you can get a survey done on it (its worth the money) even if it is 2 years old (never know whats happened to it unless you know the owner).
Have fun for whats left of your summer.

Hi Dodger, and as Dudders said, welcome to the club!

At high speed, Mariahs are known for a "clean" wake as most of the hull is out of the water. Definitely test it out at Wake board speeds (25 - 35mph) and with different trim settings and I think you'll see quite a difference. For large wakes, you will probably need the help of something like Fat Sacks (big water bags).
