I do have a question for anyone that may have advice or information.
I have a gas leak coming from my gas tank, not sure if it's the tank itself, or maybe
the vent line.
My problem is I'm not sure how to go about getting to the gas tank?
Is there a easy way?
I do not have a Owners Manual or Maintenance Manual, because I bought my boat used. Can't seem to locate any information on where to start with this gas leak issue
I have. I could really use some advice.

Hi Dale,

Ours is a few years newer and a teeny bit bigger but otherwise they should be similar so I'll take a stab at this one...

Open your engine cover and if you have the bench seat, it should pivot forward.

Look right in front of the motor and you should see a small hinged section (cover) of the floor possibly secured with metal strips or just screws. You can also try following the fuel filler tube and vent hose back to the tank and I believe they will connect to the tank at this cover which gives you access to the rear of the tank and the fuel sender.

Once open, you can examine the hoses for any sign of leakage. If it looks to be the tank, unfortunately, this will require a bit more work as you will have to remove the floor's center section along with the carpet to access the entire tank. Once out, and the leak is found, you can evaluate whether it's a repair or replacement. If your tank is not repairable and since the original Mariah Company is no longer, you will probably need to have one made up unless you manage to find a suitable replacement.

Good luck and let us know of your progress and if you need info on the floor, try doing a search on the forum, several members have had to work on their tanks or floors and some threads have great pictures to give you an idea of whats involved.

Thanks for the information. I looked a little closer today at the floor in back by the engine compartment and noticed a couple of screws in the floor. There was a small access (1'x 2' ) to the gas tank. This is at least a good start to finding my gas leak.
All of the hoses are visible and it is a Alum. tank which I can repair myself if need be.
(I am a metal fabrication fitter/welder by trade)
