Default 97'Talari 180 needs tow cover

Looking for aftermarket towable boat cover.
Any beam specs including windshield???
Are the sharkskin covers OK? And in the 102" or 96'' beam width.
Any advice would be great.

Hello mountaintownmariah and welcome to the MOC!

In the '97 brochure, the only 180 listed is a 180 SE Shabah, the Talari model doesn't begin till the 191 SE. Anyway, I don't know the windshields dimensions but as for the beam, it's 92" and the length is 18'.

I had a SharkSkin cover on my old SeaRay and it held up very well, the only issue was that the SharkSkin was a thinner material than the Sunbrella so I had to use plastic edge protectors around the windshield and other hull protrusions and I did not tow with it on. The good thing was, The SharkSkin came with the same warranty (5 year) as the Sunbrella and I saved over 2 bills.

Now if your storing your Mariah outside all the time as well as when it's being towed (as I do), I would recommend the Sunbrella. I feel the Sunbrella material (acrylic) out lasts the SharkSkin (polyester) but I think it has more to do with the fact it's a thicker material and it has better UV block so it protects the hull better, but all this comes at a price.

Which ever material you decide to go with, just make sure you try to get the best fitting cover possible, it will wear longer and look better!

After you decide on the material for your cover, take a little time to tell us a little more about your '97 180 and upload some pictures to our gallery if you have any. For a tutorial on uploading your pictures, Click here.

While you're at it, go ahead and stick your pin on our Members Map. Here's a tutorial on how to add your pin: Click here

Lastly, the MOC has a growing library of manuals, brochures, wiring diagrams, and all sorts of information relevant to your Mariah, the stern drives and equipment. All of these are available to our contributing members. Click here to see what each level has to offer.

If you need any help getting around the Forum, just give a shout,

I just got a new sunbrella tow cover for i boats with free shipping it was only 315.00 for a 1994 talari 210 it fits like a glove and looks good , if you keep it outside over the winter you need a sunbrella because you get a lot of snow up there
