Default New member with lots of questions!

Hello all,

I just bought a 1996 Mariah 1996 Z 220 Talari (my first boat ever). It is in fair shape I have a lot of work a detailing to put into it. The gel coat is faded (maybe I can wax or buff it) The soft plastic around the cockpit is faded, however it does have a new chevy small block with an AlphaOne drive and the boat runs like brand new. If anyone has any comments or suggestions to my cosmetic problems or any other ideas for me I would appreciate it. I will post pictures just as soon as I can take them and everyone can track my progress. I look forward to a great summer with my new to me boat and look forward to all your suggestions.

[email protected] please put Mariah in the subject line.

Also, any ideas where I can get a stainless steel 4 blade prop for a good price?

Earl

Hi lmuearl and welcome to the club!

For some excellent advice on detailing your exterior, look in the "General maintenance" forum (click here).

Several members highly recommend Meguiars products for the hull and 3M makes great products as well!

As for your prop, once you know what size and pitch prop you want or need, try eBay or Craig's List.

We look forward to seeing your pictuires!!! When you're ready, go ahead and read this tutorial on uploading your pictures to our gallery, Click here and don't forget, when you have a some time, tell us a little more about your 96 Z 220!

We also have a Member Map, so take some time to stick your pin on it. Here's a tutorial on adding your pin: Click here

Lastly, as a contributing member, you would have access to much more information to jhelp you restore your Mariah back to it's former glory. We also have a growing library of manuals, brochures, wiring diagrams, and all sorts of information relevant to your Mariah, the stern drives and equipment. I've had great success with the Meguiar's 3 step fiberglass restoration kit. It takes a bit of elbow grease to get it done, but the results are spectacular. (or at least in my case they were).

X2 on keeping an eye on Craigslist for a nice used prop. You'll want one of similar spec (diameter and pitch) to the prop you currently have, so it may take a while to find one.

I bought a mint condition stainless prop last year for ~50% of it's retail price.
