New to Mariah, not to boating.

Hi there I am buying a 1997 Sabah 198 next week. This will be my third boat. The first being a 1996 Tige direct drive tournament boat, the second a 2004 MB Sports B-52 v-drive wakeboard boat that I sold two years ago. I have been off the water for a couple of years now and I was looking for an affordable way to have some fun. I found this boat as a repo and it looks like my family is going to have fun on it. I just found this site and I hope to learn more about my newest toy. The boat has a 5.7L mercruiser with an alfa one outdrive.

Welcome aboard! That boat should move along quite nicely with the 5.7L.

Welcome fellow Shabah owner! :wink_thumbup:

The 5.7L alpha is a great match to the boat. I'm sure you'll be impressed with how these boats perform.

This is a great community of users. If you have any questions, post them up, someone is bound to help out.

I only got to look at the boat one time and I don't get to pick it up until next week. The prob is nicked up pretty badly, so I will probably need to replace it right away. Does anybody know what would be a good all around prop for decent take off and good top end? I'm not sure if the boat is carb or EFI. I will try to attach a pic of the motor if anybody knows.

Looks like a carb to me. Congrats on the "new" boat and welcome aboard!

Yep, looks like a carbed model to me.

I run a 13.75x21p stainless prop on mine. Gives excellent overall performance.
