Default Greetings!

First, I applaud all those here who share their enthusiasm and knowledge the 'original' Mariah boats. I have been entertained and educated quite a lot already!

I have put a deposit on a 1994 Davanti 225 (not Z) at a local boat dealership/shop. The boat shows extremely well for its age and is almost 100% exactly what i want (alas, finding that 100% is proving elusive).

The marine shop is installing a new 454 long block (original 7.4L I assume) and is rebuilding the Bravo outdrive, so knowing that there is zero hours on these expensive components is a huge bonus. They will also break it in properly before I sign anything.

The original trailer is in great shape and overall the whole package looks about 7 years old, not 15.

Their asking price including stainless prop and rebuilt running gear is $15,600. I have looked all over the internet and WA craigslist and find that high quality boats in this size and age range are pretty close to this price as well.

Any thoughts for a wannabe Mariah owner? Thanks!!!

- Nick in Spokane, WA.

Well Nick, thanks for the compliments. We put this site together just for that reason, so we could all help each other out!

As far as advice goes, I think you got a pretty decent deal considering the rebuilt engine and outdrive. Make sure and pay close attention when you test drive it that all your gauges work properly. Get the engine up to operating temp (around 175), and keep the boat running on the water for at least 30 minutes. Also test everything you can, from blowers, horn, nav lights, docking lights, radio, etc. If you find any discrepancies or if something isn't doing what it's supposed to, let us know, and don't sign on the deal until we can help you guide you in the right direction to resolve the problem.

Good luck with it, and keep us updated!

Thanks Chris. I highly appreciate your quick response and feel much better about proceeding with the possible purchase of the Davanti. As with any boat purchase, your suggestions of testing all possible functions is duly noted! I will definitely post pix at the appropriate time as well.
