Question Hello! and a question already?

Hello Mariah owners, I'm excited to have found this site!
I bought my 212 Shabah almost six years ago and have loved it since.
It has been very reliable for me so far.
Unfortunatley, that brings to me to why I found this site.
Since the lake levels are so low in Georgia, I had the boat trailored.
A storm came through and blew a tree over, smashing my windshield.
Since this is the first time I've had to look for major parts, I have learned that the "original" Mariah company no longer exists / support replacement parts.
I can not find a replacement windshield, or the specs to have a custom one made.
I know Taylor Made made the original one, but do not know how to identify it further than that.
Anyone know where I can locate one?

Taylor Made claims that they can still supply some of the old Mariah windshields but they are a pain in the as* to work with. If you do a search on windshields here on our site you will find a few similar threads explaining what they want. There are no other suppliers out there that i'm aware of but maybe someone else here knows something.

The dealer that stored my boat last year had something break my side glass. It took a good 2-3 months of fighting and them searching.

They said Taylor Made basically laughed at them saying it would cost more than the boat's worth to fire up the old molds.

I have a post somewhere on here that names a company they found out of Florida that has ties to Taylor Made. They make replacement windshields at a reasonable cost. I don't know if that's the company this dealer used, or if it was a custom glass place local.

Do a search on windshields here, you should find it. I'll post back if I find it first.

wow! thanks for all the hints, phone numbers, and web sites to get started with.
I've had my first run in with Taylor Made already and wasn't impressed, maybe one of these other glass companies can help (they all looked connected though, it may just take a bit of luck to catch the right person on the phone).

I'll keep plugging away and let you know how things work out, hopefully before the lakes fill up again, but I may have some time anyway.

It has been a while, but I haven't given up. So I thought I would update any of those interested.

Working with my insurance, we called everyone we could get to listen (including Taylor Made), until a glass company in FL, Ocean Dynamics, agreed to send a "template" and shipping material to a local boat shop of my choice. Ocean Dynamics would then walk the shop through the process of measuring for a new windshield before removing the damaged frame and remaining glass for shipment to FL. Ocean Dynamics would then repair the frame and make a custom windshield to be re-installed.

Once I got the boat to my local marine shop, Rocky's Marine, he made a few calls too. He was able to work with Taylor Made and identify a replacement windshield in their inventory.

I am now waiting for delivery and installation, so the deals not done yet, but I may see a good ending taking shape.

Thanks again to those offered contacts and advice.

    Hi howells4t,

Thanks for keeping us informed of your progress, I know it will be a big help to our other members needing glass work on their Mariahs! Your success will definitely help put our minds at ease about what to do for replacement glass should the need arise and hopefully, the expense will be affordable as well and not as outrageous as Taylor Made seem to indicate.
