Looking for the Sun on Sunday
Weather here is predicted to be rain on Saturday, so I am hoping for some sun Sunday. I just fired off the Talari and will be taking it up to Winni for a test run. I brought it three weeks ago with a cracked block. I wasn't able to buy a new block from GM so I purchased a running take out from a 2001 Blazer. I stripped the block down , and took it to the machine shop for a boil and bushings, new freeze plugs and light hone. I took the original bullet and stripped it down to reuse all the Merc engine parts in the used GM block. The Talari only has 325 hours on it and was hardly broken in. I put new bearings , rings , gaskets and seals in it. reused the pistons, crank, cam and valve train, had the heads Magnafluxed and pressure tested and lapped the valves. I put it all together on an engine stand and put it back in the hull in one piece. All new fluids and splitfire plugs. it sounds good. can't wait to water test it, the previous owner shared his experiences of it and it sure looks sweet. I have a Galaxy BR185 w/140 Mercruiser which is an '84 it's been a great boat but time to change. My last big boat was a Celebrity 240 with Volvo Penta dual prop, I sold it this year so I haven't been on the water yet this season which is almost over but there can be some good days to boat here in the Fall and the foliage is pretty. Will keep it in till mid November unless the lake gets lowered to much. I am calling the boat it until the water test then will decide weather it is a he , she or it.
