Hi everyone! Very excited that this forum exists. My wife and I just bought a 2000 Mariah 182 with a 4.3 Mercruiser and we are beside ourselves. We live near a lake and can't wait to get out there with our dog and all the fun things that come with boating.

So, question for everyone: if there are three pieces of advice for new boat owners -- especially given my boat specifically -- what would they be?

Is there a go-to resource for props, parts, etc,? A YouTube channel that I should follow?

I'm also not fully sure about the model. I know it's a year 2000, and it's a 182, but not sure if it's the Shabbah or another model. Is there a way to tell by the HIN?

Hi David and welcome to the group! I am sure you will enjoy your time on the lake with that model. Do a search in the forum here for HIN breakdown and also shabah features to get plenty of information.

My three pieces of advice: learn every part of your boat enough to know when something is just not right, always put the safety of your passengers and boat first, and proactive preventative maintenance and care for your boat will save you lots of money and headaches in the long run.
