Ignition Switch Issue

Hello everyone out there in the Mariah boat world. I am new to this as I have just gotten a Mariah boat. I was hoping someone could tell me where the power to the ignition switch comes from. I have a 2001 245 Jubilee with the 350 motor and a bravo 3 outdrive. I can jump the switch to power and everything functions as normal, but I have no battery power into the switch. Thanks for any input.

Re: Ignition Switch Issue

You should have a 12v hot at the switch as soon as the battery switch is turned on. I'm not exactly sure where it comes from but I believe on mine it is a small gauge wire off the battery positive. I would check to see if the wire has come off of the back of the switch and fallen behind the dash somewhere that has happened before to one of my rocker switches. On my 98 jubilee I have a 12v positive terminal block and a ground block behind the radio moulding so you could rob 12v from that and run it to the switch assuming that is 12v when you turn the batteries on as well. It would be easier than running a new wire all the way from the back. This is the thing with old boats, you never really know what the previous owner does and there's never really a schematic available that would tell you this stuff, especially for a boat company that went out of business 20 years ago. It's not that big of a deal though, easy fix and you have a great boat!

Thank you sparks&stripes for the response. I was running on the water and the motor just quit. I had to get towed in. Something happened to the ignition power and I am just trying to find out what. I am having difficulty tracing the wire and was hoping someone knows where it comes from. I might have to jump it so I can get it winterized soon, but I would still like to find out what happened to it while out running.

the red/yellow starts at the circuit breaker on top of the motor, then goes through a 20 amp fuse, then to b terminal on the awitch
