Default Resovoirs

Hello! I have a 1995 shabah 212z can someone tell me what the resovoir is in the engine compartment in the port side is? It has a yellow cap like it takes engine oil but my guy swears it's ATF for the drive.

You didn't mention which drive you have. Bravo drives have an oil reservoir which takes 90W gear oil. Do not put ATF in there. If an Alpha drive, there was an option for a drive oil reservoir but most do not have it.
Follow the hose on the bottom of the reservoir to see where it goes.

My 1996 Z210 with the 5.7 and ALpha 1 drive has the outdrive gear oil reservoir on the port side of the engine just in front of distributor.

I would find a different mechanic if he told you to use ATF oil in the gear case. Steve is right, 90w is correct. I use Mobil1 75w/90 synthetic which is an alternative to straight 90w.

My 4.3 has a outdrive oil reservoir. You can see it in the attached photo just behind the oil filler neck.
