Engine stalls after running several minutes
 

Hello,
I have a 1993 Mariah 2200Z and the boat runs great for several minutes (>30) and then stalls when idling or won't start after I shut it off. If I wait for several hours, the boat starts and runs fine. I'm thinking that maybe I have a vapor lock or the fuel tank vent is plugged? Any thoughts from anyone or does anyone know where I can buy a fuel tank filter for the boat?

I have a 350 cu in engine, 4 barrel carb, the engine temperature was normal. This happened late last season and again the first time out this year. I've owned the boat 4 years... prior to this, it has run great.

Might help if you said what engine you have. Check and replace the water/fuel filter if you haven't done so for a while. They are available at any marine supply shop such as West Marine. I'm inclined to think though that the problem is a failing/malfunctioning ignition coil that is overheating. Once it cools down, it will work again. Again an ignition coil would be available at places like West Marine.

My Mariah has. 5.0L alpha one engine. After cruising for about 30 minutes, the engine stalls when going from cruising speed to idle. I have replaced the ignition coil and it still happens. Could the float be stuck on the carburetor?

It could be many things.
Does it stall when shifting to neutral? If so I would start by looking at the ignition interrupt switch that is needed to get the Alpha one out of gear.
If it stalls when running at idle for a period of time either in or out of gear I would look at the carb.
