Stern drive stuck in up position
 

I’ve got a 1990 xl 2000 with 307 hours 5.7 Mercury alpha. The trim gets stuck in the up position from time to time . Ive used it for 1 hour. The remedy is the crack the line at either the cylinder ( when on the trailer) or near the pump (if on the water ) and it will drop. Thoughts? A buddy says it sounds like a stuck check valve?

The motor wines. It makes a different sound when you press up.

So the motor does indeed spin and it’s not a wire/switch/connection issue.

I just put a complete trim pump assembly in my SX20. All my wiring and solenoids were pretty rough. It’s a plug and play swap. $300 on amazon.
