Insight before Purchase - Newbie
Hello! We are looking to purchase a boat for our family after not boating for nearly 20 years. Since we have been out of the boating world for so long, I am hoping for some insight on a boat we are interested in. First let me say that we want a big boat with lots of room to take our adult kids and our grandchildren. And we prefer a bow rider. I found a 1994 Mariah Z272 that is located 4 hours away from us. This boat looks beautiful in all the pictures. Really well maintained. What would a good price point be on this boat? Also, things we should definitely look for as far as damage, wear points, etc?

One more critical thing: the trailer. After looking at my Shabah 250 and finding it was in good shape I bought it. Little did I know the trailer needed some serious attention. I assure you one hell of a way to find out the trailer brakes are not working is to exit a 65 mph interstate onto a hard cornering 25 mph off ramp in heavy traffic... It was a 1,300 mile white-knuckled trip home. I ended up putting new complete axles on it which sat me back around $1800 in parts/labor. That should have been a bargaining chip on my part but hard to go back on a price once the money has exchanged hands. |
