1999 Z222 Shabah Helm Switch/es ID

1 Attachment(s)
Greetings and thanks for the add.

I recently purchased a 1999 Z222 Shabah. I looking for help to ID the helm switch/es, as age has worn the names off each one. I can figure out what most of them do by action or sound. However, most important to me is the HORN... I cannot get a "toot" from any switch push. I assume the horn is DOA. I'm wondering if the horn has a separate on/off toggle and/or a momentary push switch? Also, where should the actual "horn" be located/mounted? Right of the windshield or underneath the helm?

Any assistance someone could lend would be greatly appreciated.

Smooth sailing,

Tom Rothweiler

Hi Tom,
I had problems with the Horn on my Z225.
You should have a Stainless Grill on the Starboard side, just ahead of the windscreen.
The Horn/s will be behind this.
The switch on mine is on the far right of the instrument panel and is a Rocker with no light.
My problem turned out to be a corroded connection in the multiway connector between the instrument panel and the hull wiring loom.
In the end I replaced the existing cable with a new one running directly from the switch to the Horn.

Hop this helps

Try this... left to right; Horn, Blower, Stereo, Lights, Acc, Acc, Bilge, Acc.

Thanks for your reply. I found the actual horn switch. On mine, it is to the left of the key switch (starter) and next to the blower switch. My problem, now, is that I cannot see the actual horn mech underneath or inside of the helm cluster. The oval grill on my starboard side, which I presume is the horn, does not appear to have an easy removal procedure. I was hoping that the grill would pop/pry off, thereby exposing mounting screws for the horn. So this is, really, my dilemma: how does that grill come off?

My 2000 Z222 is on the left side below steering wheel. Ignition switch blower and horn are all together

Mmmmmm, sorry, mine has 8 screws holding it on!!

Is there an access panel, maybe in the cabin area, the other side of the helm??

Check the back rest in the bow seat directly in front of the driver console. It usually lifts up to gain access to the backside of the console.
