Default New Member buying a 92 MX22 to send to EU.

Hello everyone,
Thanks for the club for being here and providing such great wealth of knowledge.
I am about to buy a 1992 MX22 with a 5.7L V8 Mercruiser inboard engine.
I know very (and I mean Very little) about boats in general and this model in particular.
We want to use it on fresh water lakes in Poland so are exporting it to the EU once it lands here in the UK where we are based.
I noticed talk of CE compliance papers, is this for modern boats only or does this affect older boats too?
Also my work partner (sail boat user) is worried the depth of hull and that the engine will prevent access to shallow beaches compared to other boats we looked at over here in the States. Is this boat suitable for this or does it really need jetty's to pull up to?
The pictures we have show the boat engine tips up on the trailer, so does that allow for shallow access?
Also for use as a water ski tow, do we need to adapt the boat in any way or will it pull easily?
I appreciate these may be daft questions to the wise among you, sorry for this!
I love the look of the boat and using your forum have seen how well made they are.
Lastly is there any words of caution about this boat I need to be aware of?
Many Thanks and keep up the great work here.
Simon

I would read the STICKY at the top of the Introduction forum regarding CE Papers and European requirements. Personally i would have considered looking for a similar boat over in Europe to avoid these issues and the transportation costs.

Yes the motor tilts (should have power trim & tilt) and it does make it easier to beach the boat.

The 5.7 should be plenty strong for pulling skiers. I'm not sure from your photo though what size prop you have on it. GENERALLY, a 19" - 3 blade will work okay for pulling skiers & wakeboarders. If its a 21" it may be a little difficult as that is more of a cruising prop. If that's what you have then either buy a 19" - 3 blade or a 20"- 4 blade for skiing

Lastly, there is a STICKY located in the Mariah Boats Wanted & For Sale forum that will help with the pitfalls of buying a used Mariah..
