new used Mariah owner 2000 z250

having issues with engine cover, rear sun deck... any owners have a solution to electric lift motor on starboard side and single gas strut on port...twisting the cover and damaging the hinge..

Welcome to MOC! Nice boat! I have no idea what could be causing that issue. Any odd sounds while it is operating?

I have no experience with this, but it sounds like the gas strut is defective and providing no lift and that is why the twisting. Could be as simple as replacing the strut. I don't think they are very expensive.

The original sea dog lift strut is rated for 30lbs.
I replaced with new 50 lbs rated units and added one to the starboard side to equalize the the load.the addition helps the deck lift equally.

Had this been done in 2000 the hinge would not be tweaked.

Yeah the gas shocks go bad. You can find a replacement for cheap just like Gary said
