Thumbs up 1996 Talari 191Z owner

Hello Everyone.
I'm new at this kind of thing but am happy to have found a forum like this to find out and share info on our boats. I have a 1996 Mariah Talari 191Z. I just bought
the boat last year and it is in great condition. I get a lot of compliments on it. We had a good year with it last year and hope for more to come. I would like to find some info on the specs of the boat such as weight of the boat and gal capacity of the fuel tank. I also am looking for the logo badge for the side of the boat. I rent a slip for
the season and the docks have done a number on one of the badges. Hope to here from anyone soon. Thanks again for setting this forum up.
Dave.

Welcome to the board Dave! There's all kinds of info to be found here, both by our contributors section which contains manuals, brochures, wiring diagrams, etc, and by our helpful members. I think you'll find yourself "at home" here very quickly.

As far as replacing your shield, they show up on ebay from time to time, but there seems to be some unfair bidding practices that boost the prices of them up to over $70. Since these items are in high demand, and they are not produced anymore, there's quite a few people willing to pay a lot of money for them. We also believe the seller has their friends bid on them to increase the sale price. However some members on here are replacing the gold badges with the new Silver badges made by Sea Fox. Here's a helpful thread.

Chicopee? That's the name of the ski hill not 5 minutes from my house...

Your fuel tank should have a label on the top. Directly in front of the engine there should be a flap in the floor. Remove the screws and open it to reveal the fuel tank. I would bet it's a US 40gal. tank. My 202 holds that (151L )

    Welcome to the club.

    Default fuel tank cap.

Thanks for the info . I found the door to the tank and opened it and found that I have only a 28 gal tank in this boat. I only have a 4.3 L merc in my talari 191Z. Its pretty fuel efficient when I am not on the throttle. I have had it up to 54mph on a good day with 2 guys in the boat. My speedo quit on me. Do you Know how I can trouble shoot this? I have the paddle wheel style pickup. Everything is in tact but it just quit working on me out of the blue. Is there a fuse or something electronic I can check?

Dave, I believe the paddlewheel sensor is for the "trip computer". (The useless little counter on the dash that just clicks away) The speedometer gets it's input from the pickup in the outdrive. Chances are you've got something blocking the input. There's a post in the Mercruiser forum that'll help explain how to clean it out.

If that's not the case, check the pickup tube from the drive, and follow it all the way up to the back of the gauge. Pay close attention around the engine. I found out mine had actually melted in one spot, so I just replaced that section. Works great now.

    Default speedometer

You were correct Sr. I went out to my garage and looked in were you told me to and sure enough the tube was disconnected from the little plastic tube coupling.
I also confirmed the paddle wheel. It does operate that trip meter. Thanks for all your help. I am learning so much more about this boat now that I am a member of this club. Everyone is so helpful and I appreciate That. Thanks again!
