LED Docking lights for your Mariah

Has anyone seen these out in the market place? Attwood has just put out a new LED docking light which mounts directly on the bow of your hull and only requires a small hole drilled for the wiring to pass thru. Attwood claims they are brighter than their standard 55w models with far less amp draw on the battery. My local dealer says he can obtain them but they're a little pricey at $319 Cdn.
They look sharp though.....here's Attwoods link.

Hmm, interesting!! Maybe someone could try them out and give us a full report!

It was one of my plans to install a set of docking lights on the Shabah this spring and these look nice but they're about $100 more than the standard ones.

Unfortunately....it'll have to wait for this snow to disappear first. Another 15-20cms (4 - 6") last night & more forecast for the rest of this week.

Yeah, they're $100 more, but look at the advantages. No huge holes in the hull, lower power consumption and a wider light spread angle!

Come on mikeyt, be the guinea pig and test these out for us!!!

i'll probably bite the bullet and splurge on a set but it'll have to wait for a little while. Once some of the other vendors like Bass Pro, Overtons, West Marine etc get them i'll check their prices before spending my hard earned $$.

I was looking at these lights my self, My boat dont have any on them and im a big led fan but kind of like the looks of the ss one's. Just wondering if anyone has yet tried these lights out or if i should install the ss lights? Also any info do these lights really help at night?

Not sure if the LED's are an improvement, but as far as the lights helping at night, I'd say no. They're angled down so you'll only end up seeing about the first 5 feet in front of your boat. Hence the name "Docking Lights" rather than "headlights". And you're not legally allowed to drive on the water with them on, except for around a dock or marina. They will help for visibility when loading onto a trailer, but will blind anyone who may be in the water in front of you helping load or crank your winch strap down to the trailer.

I honestly don't see them as an absolute necessity. Now the LED versions might be a great improvement, but the halogens ones, I'd say put the money into more gas for the boat, it'll bring you much more enjoyment. :)

Re: LED Docking lights for your Mariah

I did install the Attwood LED 'docking' lights back in the spring & it was an easy job given the wiring connections were already there & the only drilling was one small pilot hole for the wire to pass thru the hull. From what i saw they were slightly better than the halogen lights on my neighbours boat in that they spread the light better & you could easily cover the water for a ways ahead at night to make for safe navigation when needed.
