hello new owner of 03 mariah sx19

So pissed just bought this Maria boat a month ago. Was going to do a tuneup this weakened and found out the motor is bad. Cracked block and possibly heads. Front 2 frost plugs were out. It was leaking water into heads and out oil dipstick. Bought from a dealer and he really screwed me. Original owner didn't winterrize and blew motor. Going to cost 3000 dollars for a new motor and installation.had a 5.0 and I'm getting a 5.7 put in. Same price for both motors. Anyone had a situation like this what do I do to the dealer. Thank you everyone.

Oh man. Sorry to hear about your bad situation there. That really sucks. Unfortunately, I do not think there is much you can do since it is an "as is sale." Your state might have a special law about it. I know in Florida, you have a 3 day full refund on a vehicle purchase to return it regardless of your reason.(not sure if that applies to boats). This is the main reason why sea trials are so important. And if you can't do a sea trial, then spring the $350-$500 for a complete boat survey.
Sorry to hear about your situation. Maybe someone else on here will have more legal experience with this and can chime in. What state did you purchase the boat in? Let us know how it all pans out.....

I'm not sure what else you can do if you bought the boat without doing a sea trial (as Chris noted) nor a warranty from the dealer. Was the boat advertised? If so, did the ad mention anything about being winterized or 'ready to use? You could go back to the dealer though and make some noise just to see what happens.

I bought it in Minnesota. I can't remember what the craigslist ad said. I heard there was a law in Mn protecting me from fraud. I'm going to check it out.

Was it a "too good to be true" price?

I'm thinking all the seller will have to say is "It worked the last time I took it out".

"Fraud" is going to be very difficult to prove without the original advertising for the boat. I hate to say it but this will be one of those examples used when people ask about what to do before buying a boat. Best of luck!

The seller didn't use it. The dealer bought it from a bank because it was a repo. The dealer bought it about 2 weeks before I bought it. It was a mess buying it from him. I had to go to him 3 different times because the titles and signatures were wrong to transfer the title. This boat will not be totally fixed after motor. Still needs trailer brakes fixed and some interior work done.

I guess the only good news is you can't boat on ice here in mn lol but really that sucks. I don't think there is any law for that one but what did the dealer say as they may at least help with something to keep there name good. Is it a twin cities dealer?

You did state in your very first post that you knew the boat had not been winterized when you bought it. And honestly, if it was a repo in Minnesota that wasn't winterized it should have been a clue to possible/likely motor damage. You stated that you found no water in the engine initially and then in your first post of this thread indicated water into the heads and the frost plugs popped? Again, you really should have had someone knowledgeable examine the boat before you laid down your cash and unfortunately now you are paying the price for not doing so. I suspect you will not have much success in going after the dealer who sold it. :(

The dealer name is Dennison sales in Lakeville Mn. He sells travel camper trailers.he must have got a good deal on the boat at a auction. He offered a couple hundred dollars toward the cost what a joke. I kept telling him u can't fix a cracked block. He says u can what a idiot lol.
