I need new batteries also. Do I NEED two batteries if I have no radio or pretty much any other accessories that run typically while the mortor is off? I am new to all this and just wanted to throw out the question but didn't want to start a whole thread for it. I am looking at the Walmart ones for a summer or two also until I get Optimas.

You don't need two , but I always feel a lot better with two. Especially out on a sparsely populated lake.
Long as you have no draws , and don't use the electronics much you'll be good.
But I'd save up for a dual system with shutoff if it were me

Hey Crcn! If you have nothing that draws power like a radio or frig. then 1 battery is totally fine. All you would need would be a starting battery(non deep cycle).
