93 MX20 Steering Problem

Have a 1993 Mariah MX20 with a 4.3LX Merc. Went to put her up and the steering is very hard, my son told me the steering was intermittently ok then bacame hard to steer. I pulled the cable pin and turned the wheel and it seems not as easy as I would have expected but it is not as hard to turn as when running and on the water.

I looked over the cylinder and it is wet with fluid. I assume I need a rebuild kit but the only numbers I can find on the steering unit is 02013401.

Does anyone have any ideas on who made this unit and or what rebuild kit that would fix this problem.

Thanks,
OhmyMariah

Here is a diagram , but it looks as though the rebuild kit is obsolete from Mercruiser.

I would do a web search for Mercruiser part #25- 58224A 1. You might luck out.
Otherwise look in Ebay , I see the whole cylinder on there a lot for sale.

Larry,

Thanks for the reply looks like I am in trouble with this. I think my only choice is to take it out and try to mach up the o rings. I really don't have a $1k to spend on a new steering cylinder.

Jumping in with another link for everyone.

They have a ton of hydraulic stuff and a lot of NOS parts they've bought from companies. I built a log splitter and bought everything from them but the steel.
