Closing Windshield

1 Attachment(s)
Anyone have this problem?
Center windshield is too tight when closed, need to hit it to fit in opening.

What did you do to make better?

I put a jack between the walls, and spread them enought to let window close easy, a little more since it will spring back in a few days, I think.
Maybe best to leave it like this all winter next year.

Re: Closing Windshield

Take the foam strip out, loosen off the screws, move the windshield a bit, tighten the screws & put the foam back in place.

Re: Closing Windshield

Which foam strip do you take out. Mine is doing the same thing?

Re: Closing Windshield

The foam strip under the glass on the outside of the boat.

Me personally no i haven't but a few others have. Usually its the result of a bad ground. Replacement units are available. Check our Vendors List.

I had this problem when I first purchased my boat. The center windshield would ride above the opposite side windshield. I removed the black rubber, pulled the screws that attach the windshield to the fiberglass and moved the windshield out on the starboard side. I re-screwed the windshield down and it fits perfectly. I do have a couple of holes visible from the inside, I just haven't chosen to refill them. It really wasn't too bad a job.

I tried as suggested but did not get the same results. Any other method recommended?

Nope. ;)

Did you loosen the screws on both sides so that the windshield would move on each side? There is a bit of play in there to do this and it should be enough to fix the problem.

When I unsnapped the cover today to re-try your suggestion, low and behold it was closed! Although still a little tight but at least I can close it and put my bow cover on properly.

Thanks for the help.

Mine was the same way. without the snap top bimini it closes fine, with the bimini on it pulls it down so it doesnt fit just right,

Re: Closing Windshield

Did mine before the big 4th...
Had to take out all the screws from front opening, around to the vent window.
It had to go out as well as over.
I would suggest a piolt hole before screwing it down, I stripped a couple of screws before I did it.

Re: Closing Windshield

yes, definitely worth a little drill bit. I still have too much tension though. may have to move other side too.

I believe that was my suggestion (do BOTH sides) in post #12.

Re: Closing Windshield

Only moved the starboard side on mine, it was enough and not noticable.
