Boat has sat for 2 years? What to do?

Hello everyone, I have a 1996 Mariah 220 Talari. I went back to school to finish my degree and because of financial reasons had to let the boat sit for 2 years. However, its time to get back out there and I need to know what I need to repair, replace or check up on? I live in Southern California and don't need to winterize it because it does not get below freezing. I have kept it covered and kept the trailer tires filled and covered. Please give me any suggestions on what I should do. Any websites or email me with info. ([email protected]). Thanks again and I'll see you on the water.

Hopefully you used fuel stabelizer or better yet drained the tank and ran the carb empty. If not, that would be the first thing i would do is drain everything, new filters and fuel, new battery.

Yep, all the fluids & filters should be changed. A bit of lubrication for the moving parts (outdrive, steering etc) might be in order too. And as Mariah Bob says, hopefully you used some fuel stablizer 2 yrs ago so that the carb etc isn't gummed up.

If you didn't fog the cylinders before laying up, you may want to consider removing each spark plug and squirting some WD-40 or fogging oil into each cylinder. I would use a wrench on the crank bolt to slowly turn the engine over before cranking with the starter...just in case you have a stuck ring. Good luck and welcome back to the water!
