Dashboard color faded, dash surface rough

Hi,
Sorry if this question has been answered somewhere else. I tried searching but didn't come up with an exact match.

Our recently purchased '97 Shabah has a dark green dash. The color of most of the dash is a bit bleached out, and on the top area (right below the windshield) the vinyl is rough from being dried out. It''s interesting because the neighbor we bought the boat from had in on a covered hoist at their dock, so it shouldn't have been sun-bleached...

Anyway, I'd like to have this repaired and be able to keep it well maintained.
Any suggestions?

I checked out Fibrerenew from another post, but there isn't a location in NY state.

Thx,
Jan

Hi Jan,

this post has helped me a lot with planning and ideas. He did a great job and he changed colors quite a bit. The sprayed his dash to make it look new.

I know, I just read the entire thread. His boat looks amazing, but I want to keep my green color...and I don't know if I have the skill to remove the dash and instruments without messing up.

Is there any way to renew the color without taking the dash out and repainting? I guess I could look into it at a marine vinyl shop for a professional to do over the winter, but in the meantime, the bleached green dash is bugging me ...:(

Try one of those magic erasers or very very fine steel wool. Mine had a touch of chalkyness and I used the steel wool and then followed up with Meguiers Vinyl cleaner. Of course try a very small area first.
