Default Gas gauge is possessed!
Hi. Just came in from the lake. Took my friend's family tubing. Gas gauge showed almost empty after about 1 hour, so went to the marina to fill it. Only took 9 gal on a 30 gal tank, then the needle on the gauge went crazy zipping from full to empty for a while, then stayed on half full the rest of the way home.

What is the issue?

    I had a very similar issue last season and my mechanic cleaned all of the contacts and the problem went away. He said that he cleaned them on the sender end and on the gauge end.

    +1 had the same issue, used the same solution as Phlorida and got the same results.
