2 Windshield Maintenance questions

The rubber molding/gasket on the bottom of the windshield section that opens to the bow has deteriorated and needs replacing. Anyone know where to find this rubber piece or any kind of good replacement? Also, the windshield support bracket on the port side was not properly designed to support peoples body weight as they step up to the bow. As a result, over time the windshield has been bent down a bit. Anyone experience the same issue and come up with a better support bracket?

Do you mean the gasket under the windshield, or the foam strip along the bottom?

If it's the latter, you can buy the stuff in rolls. I believe TaylorMade products is one of many outfits that sell it.

Not sure about your support bracket, but on my Shabah they are quite sturdy. I did have re-align and tighten them up where they attach to the dash though. As with most fasteners on a boat, they tend to get loose after a while.

Re: 2 Windshield Maintenance questions

It is bottom of the center portion of the windshield that opens to the bow. There is a track on the bottom that the rubber gasket slides into. It has gotten very compressed and worn with age and does not provide a good seal between the bottom of the window and the deck. Consequently, water will get underneath especially in a hard rain.

As far as the support bracket is concerned it is generally secure but if you lean on the top corner with any amount of weight the bracket does not provide enough support since it attaches only about half way up the frame.
