182 barchetta nav switch

Good morning,
I have a 1996 barchetta 182 and noticed the nav lights are not working. Investigating, I found the rotary switch had failed just to the right of the ignition key. Does anyone have the wiring diagram for this as well as a lead on where I can get a new switch? I would like to keep the original design. I appreciate your help.

That rotary switch is for the dimmer on the panel lights. If it is broken, may be able to find a old replacement on Ebay. For new switches, I've used both New Wire Marine and OTRATTW.net for switches and covers. If all the nav lights are out, make sure you check the fuses/circuit breakers also.

I’m not familiar with how the wiring is supposed to be, but it’s a 3 position rotary switch. Assuming on/off/on. The nav lights were spliced together and put into this switch. Only wires attached besides the power and ground. It has an indicator light on it. Both nav lights function. I’ll have to see if I can post a picture of the switch and the console. I appreciate the help, I’ll check out those two places you sent.

Not totally sure if this diagram covers your model, but may help a little for wiring.

My boat doesn't have this model switch so I'm no help identifying if it is correct or not. Can you find any part number on your existing switch to google?

Re: 182 barchetta nav switch

I found a switch that I can use. I don’t know how the original wiring was done as the last owner did some weird splicing to make it work. I’ll wire it so one side of the switch will turn on the anchor light and the other side of the switch will run both blades turning on the anchor light and nav lights. I have a rocker switch labeled pnl lights which turns on my dash lights, so I’ll either jump from there to run the indicator lights for the rotary switch or I’ll jump off the single side of the rotary switch so they’ll turn on every time I use the nav lights. Thanks again for the help. The parts numbers menu that y’all have was what I used to find that type of switch.

sounds like you have a plan - hope it all works out. The wiring diagrams Mariah used were bare basic line drawings with wire colors. not sure how much that would have helped.
