What hydraulics?? The item in the photos is an electric-operated linear actuator.

Is there anyway I can get them much cheaper? Many the same size but a different brand?

There are plenty of linear actuators available that are not marine grade. You would have to measure the stroke of yours and the weight requirement. Search eBay for some. You may be able to find a part number on yours for reference.

What's wrong with them? Not work at all? A bit wonky? Mine where a bit shaky and slow to raise the hatch. Per another post here, I applied a fresh shot (or 3) of grease through each zert and WD40 on the shafts and they work pretty good now. Of course i also had the severely water logged hatch redone and the reduction in weight helped too. :)

Progressive automation makes some that are marine grade. About $150 each but they move fast..2.8 inches per second. Im buying them.
