Unsure where this wire goes.

Fixing up a boat my friend said I could have if I get it running. It is a 96 miriah shabah with a 180 hp 4.7 L vortec. When I turn it over a Solonoid clicks. I'm wondering if I should replace it or not. There is this one wire near it and I'm not sure where it goes or if it is unnecessary. This boat probably has less than 100 hours use since he bought it. And he took it to a mechanic who ran it about 6 months ago. The mechanic took it out on the lake to drive it around and see if there were issues.

I'm not sure but that looks like it may be a alternator cable. (learned from experience.) This could also mean it's a negative cable. But, take a voltage tester and turn some stuff on one by one and see if you get and readings. For example, If you flip the bilge pump switch on and get power you know its to the bilge pump. (obviously) you should definitely replace the solonoid. It could either be the solonoid, corroded battery cables and/or terminals or a bad battery.) most of the time though it's the solenoid. (I've had mine replaced at least twice in the last 3 years. Hope that helps!
