Re: Docking light replacement

I just changed the bulbs on my 275. I purchased two of these LED bulbs on eBay:

PAR36 Round LED Trapezoid Distance Beam Bulb Truck Tractor Aviation Work Light | eBay

The first one took me 2-hours to remove the old bulb. The second about 15-minutes. The new LEDs fit perfectly. I put new wires and connectors because the LEDs need to be correct on + and - connections.

Here is the process:
1. Use lots of Dawn soap. Did this in our kitchen sink. Work it around the edges of the bulb by pushing the rubber housing away from the old bulb until the edge has soap and a little water all the way around.
2. Cut off the silicone from around the wires on the back of the rubber mount.
3. Remove the wire connectors.
4. I used a 90 degree 4" long straight blade screwdriver (made for tight places) and worked it under the edge of the old bulb and pried up. Kept working around the bulb about every inch. Finally a small edge came out of the rubber groove. Kept up the process until the old bulb came out.
5. Clean it up.
6. Put new wires (black for ground and some other color for + on the new bulb.
7. Feed the new bulb and wires into the rubber casing.
8. Work the edges of the bulb into the groove. Takes a little work but they will pop in.

I did not take any photos of the process, but the LEDs are great docking lights.
