Electrical problems
So I'm having some setbacks with my electrical system. I have a single battery 94 Talari and every once in a while when we have the sound cranked up on the stereo the music will cut out and the stereo will restart...my speakers are brand new and have a wattage of 60 watts. The stereo also cuts out when we were using air compressor to inflate the tube.....help me please!

Re: Electrical problems
Voltage drops caused by high current use. You need to run larger wires from your stereo back to the battery if you want it to stop cutting out.

What gauge wire should I use?

Re: Electrical problems
I hate to cut in on Hudson but I can't help myself.
The stereo MAY be shutting itself down in a thermal/overload protection mode. Does it do it at 1/2 to 3/4 volume ? The stereo alone should be fine with 16 guage. The compressor should be on its own circuit. If it's a full 120 psi unit, look for direct battery connection by itself. If you can't do that, stand alone a #14-12 wire circuit |
Re: Electrical problems
The cut off only happens at higher volumes and the air compressor is a tiny little thing.

Re: Electrical problems
This purely a guess on the stereo. That is the overload protection. Can you make a temp jumper wire to ADD to the existing wire ? You'll need to add to the ground wire too. The ground is 100% as important as the hot

Re: Electrical problems
The temporary jumper wires directly back to the battery is a great idea for diagnosing the problem. If it no longer cuts out then you will know that you need to run heavier gauge wires.
