Off to the lake for the honeymoon

We'll, the time has come for me and my better half (Heather) to get married. We're getting married this Saturday and taking off on Sunday to Crystal Lake, Michigan for 4 days.

We have a lake view and the owner of the place where we are staying has offered us the use of their dock for free so we don't have to keep pulling the boat out of the lake. Talk about awesome.

Just to add, this will be my first time off work in 10 years, yes you read right lol

Things I've done myself in the last 30-45 days since buying the Shabah 180 to get it 100% lake ready. I think I know every aspect of this boat and where everything is located because of the stuff I had to do, which in retrospect I'm glad it had things wrong with it so I could learn about my first boat and it's idiosyncrasies. Instead of taking 30 mins to start, she now takes about 5-10 seconds tops and purrs at 850 rpm idling.
  • Changed engine compartment blower
  • Changed bilge pump and float
  • Changed Engine Oil and Filter
  • Lower drive oil change
  • Changed Water/fuel separation filter
  • Changed Anti-Siphon Valve
  • Rewired Courtesy lights
  • Changed both belts (alternator and power steering pump)
  • Repacked bearings on trailer
  • Rewired courtesy lights
  • Rewired trailer tow plug
  • Rewired Tilt and Trim and Trailer buttons
  • Rewired Nav lights
  • Installed Smart tabs
  • Replaced prop from 3 blade to 4 blade
  • Buffed hull to remove oxidization
  • Put $50 in the swear jar while completing all of the above
  • ...And a partridge in a pear tree

I would not have been able to do this without the very knowledgeable people on this forum and the help they have provided, along with the mountain of info in various posts on here and how-to's.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone :wink_thumbup:

This is the view from where we'll be :)

Congratulations my friend! Enjoy your honeymoon! That is quite the list of upkeep but will be well worth it.

Left last Sunday at noon, drove 40 miles, then this happened (see 1st pic below). To add insult to injury, this happened to BOTH trailer tires. Hit some sort of road debris and they both went at once.To make matters worse, whatever debris was on the road hit the spare tire and whooped that one too. So the first part of our honeymoon, we spent 3 hours at Walmart getting 2 tires and a spare, $400 gone! So what was suppose to be a 4 hour trip turned into 9.

The rest of the honeymoon was awesome. If anyone is looking for a quiet town to go for a vacation, go to Crystal Lake, Mi. Within 24 hours we booked our return vacation for next year.

Here's a quick sampling of some of the pics we took.

BTW, The boat performed flawlessly after the semi-rebuild I did, started up within 5 seconds from a cold start, purr'd all day long. To anyone considering smart tabs, don't overthink it, they ROCK!
