Default Not a Mariah

Well, I'm sure you regulars have noticed my avatar and signature change. A year ago, in November, we looked at a Rinker 272 because we were starting to learn that we wanted a cuddy and a little more room. We fell in love with the wrap-around seating. Since then it's been one of the models that I keep an eye out for on the market. Some of the things we required for our next boat were; swim platform, Captain's Call, bimini, and a full camper canvas. This one came available a little over 5 hours from home and met all of our requirements so we took a trip to see it and ended up leaving a deposit on that cold, windy day in November. I listed my MX-19 when we got home. Within a few days I had some pretty serious inquiries. Within the week I was talking to her future owner who is 5.5 hours away. Within a few minutes of arriving the next weekend, her happy new owner pulled her out of my drive. We have been keeping in touch since. A couple more weekends of coordinating and letting Thanksgiving pass and I finally got to go pick up the Rinker. I got lucky and caught a 50 degree day for the final inspection and sea trial. I was thoroughly impressed with how quickly the 7.4/BII planned out and how well the stepped hull handled and crushed waves. The thru hull exhaust is pure music. I would have liked to stay with Mariah but we just didn't want sport seating at all. Rinker was really ahead of their time with the layout and walk-through transom they put on this model. This one has been well cared for, the vinyl is flawless and the overall fit and finish is actually really impressive. The F-150 we used to pull it home handled the load suprisingly well considering the package probably weighs in at nearly 8000#. The only drag was the fact that it only got 6mpg. I'm hoping the 30 mph winds cost us a couple mpg there but regardless, I'm currently in the market for a diesel.

    Dredd -

A beautiful boat, well done. I am in a similar situation, I sold my Mariah bowrider because we want more room. I would love to stay with Mariah but Sea Ray, Rinker, Wellcraft and others have decent offerings and are easier to find. Have fun with the new boat!

Congrats Dredd!! She's a beauty, looks to be in great shape, love the cockpit layout too, perfect for entertaining! Rinker makes some really nice boats, my friend has a 342 Fiesta Vee, and I was looking at a Captiva 232 before I got my Z250. Hope you enjoy it, and know that you'll always be welcome here at the MOC!

Thanks guys. Warm weather can't get here soon enough. I'm pretty tempted to start her up in the driveway with an antifreeze feed for a minute just because I want to hear that rumble again...lol
Good eye catching my listing, Matt. See you at the Perry Party!

Wow! That is a nice lay-out! I really like it! Congrats on the new boat. I guess it's something we'll all have to deal with sooner or later - the original Mariah is no longer around, so our appetite for newer, bigger boats will eventually (and sadly) cause us to die off slowly I guess.

But don't let that deter you from sticking your cyber nose in on the MOC. I've always enjoyed and appreciated your insight and posts.

Yup, planning on that too... matter of fact... I was going to make my resos online a minute ago but I guess you have to call to get the MWBP rates since there's no promo code.
