Not a Mariah
Well, I'm sure you regulars have noticed my avatar and signature change. A year ago, in November, we looked at a Rinker 272 because we were starting to learn that we wanted a cuddy and a little more room. We fell in love with the wrap-around seating. Since then it's been one of the models that I keep an eye out for on the market. Some of the things we required for our next boat were; swim platform, Captain's Call, bimini, and a full camper canvas. This one came available a little over 5 hours from home and met all of our requirements so we took a trip to see it and ended up leaving a deposit on that cold, windy day in November. I listed my MX-19 when we got home. Within a few days I had some pretty serious inquiries. Within the week I was talking to her future owner who is 5.5 hours away. Within a few minutes of arriving the next weekend, her happy new owner pulled her out of my drive. We have been keeping in touch since. A couple more weekends of coordinating and letting Thanksgiving pass and I finally got to go pick up the Rinker. I got lucky and caught a 50 degree day for the final inspection and sea trial. I was thoroughly impressed with how quickly the 7.4/BII planned out and how well the stepped hull handled and crushed waves. The thru hull exhaust is pure music. I would have liked to stay with Mariah but we just didn't want sport seating at all. Rinker was really ahead of their time with the layout and walk-through transom they put on this model. This one has been well cared for, the vinyl is flawless and the overall fit and finish is actually really impressive. The F-150 we used to pull it home handled the load suprisingly well considering the package probably weighs in at nearly 8000#. The only drag was the fact that it only got 6mpg. I'm hoping the 30 mph winds cost us a couple mpg there but regardless, I'm currently in the market for a diesel.
