Default Lakefront Property

Well, my gf and I had a more then lovely day cruising around the lake today. It was 100% glass around 11am this morning. However, I think a bit of chop can be good for the boat.

Anyhoo, on the way home I saw a certain type of car and I told my gf to quickly grab the camera .............................

Somewhere in the set of pics, you will see a Mariah w/ red tarps tied up in a single boat sized boat house. Im unsure of year, but it looks to be either the new Mariah, or just a newer year old Mariah.

It is only a couple of cottages down from where I store my boat

The unmarked Mariah is a Z300 model, looks to be a 99. I can tell by the vents in the hull towards the stern. Good eye though, keep staring at this board all day and you'll be able to spot them from afar! The one with the red cover is definitely a newer model, you can always tell by the Silver logo.

That's a beautiful area up there, how is lakefront property value up there? Here in the US, lakefront property comes at a premium, the small lakehouses retail for about $300k plus. I really like that guy's garage boat setup too, that's pretty slick. James Bond-ish. Ah, what'd it be like to have money....

hmmm which photo are you referring to that is james bond ish?

Depends on the size of the cottage and lot location etc. Ball park canadian $,you might be looking $200K and obviously up to around a million (again depending on location)
If you are up in Gravenhurst or Lake of Bays area, Lake Rosseau ... expect to pay a pretty penny up there.

South end of muskoka, north end of orillia border is where am I.

This is the one, DSC_0210. It looks like the dock is on some kind of track lifting setup. I'll bet that was a pretty penny. Of course, it looks like the house was too!

I was just curious to see how Canadian prices are compared to US. Someday, I plan to retire to a lakehouse. Someday... another 37 years and i'll be legally considered retired...

There's a guy up in the area of our family cottage (Pointe Au Baril) that has a similar "railroad track" setup that comes up from under the water and leads into his 'garage'. There's a trailer setup & the whole thing is powered by an electric winch. Only this guy doesn't fool around. He flies a small float plane back & forth and uses the track setup to take his plane off the water and into the garage! I'll have to take a picture of it the next time we go up there.

btw....you will need save lots of shekels to afford a decent cottage up in the Muskoka area nowadays. I dont think you can buy a lakefront cottage on Lake Joseph, Lake Rosseau or Lake Muskoka (the big 3 for our US friends) for under $300k Cdn and for that you're not getting a much more than 700 - 800sf of cottage. And with our loonie within 3-4 cents of the 'merican buck there's not a lot to be gained.

Ahh yes .. and the whole reason we took that pic was from the chrome on the Deere. That's a sweet setup, park the boat inside the cottage, nice and safe and secure (warm as well I bet).

There is a lot of cottagers that own marine railways for their boats, some are better then others. This is one of the better ones.

I think thats about how big our cottage is .. somewhere around 700-800sq/ft. Its one big open room with 4 smaller bedrooms off the south facing walls and one on the east wall. Bathroom is on east wall as well.

My late grandfather built it himself back in the day. Redesigned it to what it looks like currently back around 1980 range.

Lot's of marine railways up near where I hang as well. Kinda necessary when the waves can get up over 2 meters in a good blow..

Our place is probably not even 500 square feet. 3 season, but on the water. The municipality values it at over 200K. I have the most expensive garbage collection on the planet. No marine railway here, and no chrome on the Deere

Comes with a million dollar view though..

    Nice panorama shot there

I have tried to take them, but I never seem to get it to line up each time. Next time I will use my tripod and lock my exposure.. lol.
