Took my son fishing yesterday.
 

I bought him a new pole and reel for his B-day. I took him to a farm pond of a friend of mine. We caught about 30 fish in 2 hours. It was a blast. I think he is hooked. By the end of the day he was taking his own fish off the hook. Here is one pic of his nice hybrid bluegill:). It doesn't get any better than this.

I did the same thing with both of my boys (now 13 & 16) when they were about 8-9 yrs old and now they are both hooked on fishing. When we go up to our cottage one or both of them go out fishing for a couple of hours each night by themselves. Whether they catch anything or not doesnt seem to matter much....

Wow, what a co-incidence. I just took my kids (11 and 8) out fishing for the first time today. Actually we fished Lake Huron from a dock. Waves were so big even the commercial fishing boats were moored. We caught a couple of yellow perch, a bunch of gobi's and we had a smallmouth bass jump off the line. My daughter looked like a real pro, cutting worms, baiting her hook, she had a little trouble removing hooks from her catches, but she gets an A+ for effort!
