Cheap(er) insurance...

So I am a State Farm guy... I guess that all changed tonight. I was checking out rates for insurance and I was amazed that progressive (via the web) was $200.00 cheaper for the same coverage! I obviosly bought it from them. I guess it pays to check it out...

My coverage was $359.00 for the '96 Talari 235 ($250.00 ded)

Good Luck!

It always pays to check out the competition when it comes to buying insurance! Loyalty to one company for all your insurance needs is poorly rewarded by insurers, particularly on your next renewal after you make a claim.....

It's amazing to me the prices of insurance on boats. Mine runs very close to your price, for a 2000 Z250. It was about the same price for my 1991 Sea Ray 180, and my friend just got coverage for his 1972 Columbia 26 Sailboat for around the same price. So apparently it's not based on the age of the boat!

Insurance

I just insured my '96 180 Shaba through FOREMOST INS. I live in Washington State, don't know if that changes things, but I'm paying $325.00/yr.

I have a $100k liability
$1k ded
$1k in total replacement for on board items (wake boards, life jackets...)
- unlimited deckside assistance - fuel, jump, towing etc.

Let me know what you other guys are paying for same liability and lower deductible.

My loyalty lies with my wallet.

Thanks much

I guess I"m an idiot...all I know is that I've got insurance.....it's lumped in with my house, I have no idea what I'm paying, what my deductible is, or what is covered.......a fellow ought to do some checking, huh??

uhh,,,,yep! :D

I have travelers. I pay under $300 for great coverage.

MariahShabah3.0 08-30-2007 02:32 AM

Sorry......Under $200

Insurance

what are your coverages with Travelers paying less than 200.00 ? Do you run your house and cars through them too ?

That is a great price !!

MariahShabah3.0 08-30-2007 11:37 PM

The Travelers Policy is boat only. It covers
$500,000 Watercraft liability,
$1k personal property,
$10k Physical (boat and trailer),
Towing up to $400,
$500k uninsured boaters coverage
$5k in personal medical.

Re: Cheap(er) insurance...

cole, I've got the exact same boat and my policy with Allstate is around $300 for the year. Maybe it's higher based on your location? Maybe they see Louisiana as more of a risk from hurricane damage? I'd consider checking with Allstate, if not, become a member of Boat US, from what I hear, their insurance is a great deal!

Re: Cheap(er) insurance...

I guess there's a little benefit to get older after all. I'm with the Hartford through AARP. Pretty standard coverage $500 deductable on the hull, $100 ded. for theft total cost is $182.00 a year. I'm pretty happy with that!
