Considering Purchase of 1997 Shaba
3 Attachment(s)
My wife and I found a 1997 Mariah Shaba boat with a 2003 trailer at a local dealer here in Colorado. We found this site and thought it would be worth while to ask the "local experts" about the boat. They are asking $8,900 but I'm thinking that is too much. Let me know what you guys think.
The trailer seems to have different rims and tires between axles. The boat seems to have been patched as well. The upholstery seems it pretty good shape except for some rips. The only cover included is the one pictured over the bow. http://www.mariahownersclub.com/foru...1&d=1397353459 http://www.mariahownersclub.com/foru...1&d=1397353459 http://www.mariahownersclub.com/foru...1&d=1397353459 |

What model? Looks like a 180 Shabah
What engine? Hours on boat? Upholstery can run into the bucks fast! Sounds high to me as far as the price if it is indeed a 180 , but more info/pics would be nice. Especially pics of the "patched" areas. |
Re: Considering Purchase of 1997 Shaba
Its hard to judge whether the boat is reasonably valued unless we know what size & what motor it has in it. It does look like a base model Shabah of 18' or 19' though. Putting upholstery right can be a bit costly and rips/tears wont fix themselves so it will depend on what you can live with vs what you can afford. I'm not sure how much boat ownership experience you've had but it might be worth reading this STICKY on buying a used Mariah.

Its early in the season. I wouldnt let the stealership pressure you. I will refrain from sharing my thoughts on dealerships.
Hard to say on the price. For an example my neighbors purchased a 2001 Mariah 19' bow rider with the 4.3 and a wake tower. 6500 with the trailer. Garage kept and full camper enclosure. It is immaculate. It did need the steering emblem though. It was a "for sale by owner" on craigslist. (There are a TON of boats for sale in Colorado right now on CL) Im in Pueblo West if you find a boat here an need someone to take a peek at it. Chad |
Re: Considering Purchase of 1997 Shaba
Dont forget to give the trailer a good once over as well... I just dump a bunch of money into my trailer. (tires, brakes, axles, bearings, lighting, bunks, etc).

Re: Considering Purchase of 1997 Shaba
Here is the VIN number: MAB14471C797 if that helps. They told me it came with a 5.7L engine. Any more detail needed?

Re: Considering Purchase of 1997 Shaba
Well now we know it has a 5.7 but i think only ShabahZ280 (admin) has access to the build sheets that would tell us for sure what it is. Is there an Ad somewhere that you can provide a link to?
Just off the top of my head i'd say it was a tad over-priced with the defects you've mentioned but given the time of year vendors will be asking a premium price for their boats. |

Re: Considering Purchase of 1997 Shaba
My guess is that it's a 198 Shabah. I dont believe the 180 or 190 was offered with the 5.7.
Makes their asking price a little more 'palatable' but i still think there is some room for improvement. |
