Default Lost Plug

We lost the drain plug last weekend when we set it on the back of the boat after we trailered it and then forgot to grab it before we drove off. It used to have wires that attached it to the boat, but the same day the wires finally broke, we lost the darn thing.

I have been looking at plug kits for sale online, but they do not have pictures, so I am weary to buy something and have it not fit. Our boat is stored at the lake 2.5 hours away, so we have to buy the new plug and bring it with us and if it does not fit, we waste a weekend we could have spent boating!

Has anyone ever replaced their drain plug and how universal are the plugs they sell?

Maybe this one? Looks just like the one on my 96 Mariah

1/2" pipe. I would goto hardware store and buy a few sizes of pipe plug. Then you can order a brass one later. The hardware store might even have brass.

I don't think you need to replace the whole kit with the transom fitting and all, you just need to replace the plug. Any marine shop/boat place should have drain plugs for sale, as well as chain stores like Bass Pro Shop, Cabelas, West Marine, etc. Dealers will usually have them as well. They are only a few bucks. I have two on my boat. One in the transom and one spare, just in case!!!

Yup, even Walmart will have plugs (around here anyway). I keep a spare one too.

As a matter of fact, I wouldn't try to replace the whole assembly. I was going to do that on my Mariah and the dang holes didn't line up. They were really close, it was going to get messy.

Yes Plug only. I was just showing the photo. Heck, I would buy 3 of them for luck!
