Sx19
Hi everyone and thanks for having me as a member.
I have been looking for a family boat for a few weeks now and have decided that the SX19 is what we need. I have found a 2006, 4.3 EFI, 40hrs for sale. The only problem is that is is a 1200kms away. Is there any thing that I should be asking or looking out for? This will be our first boat. Thanks for any assistance. Cheers, John |
Re: Sx19
hi John
40 hrs on a 2006 would indicate (to me) that the boat hasn't been used all that much. I would want to see any service records to ensure it was properly maintained (oil/lube changes at least once per yr etc) whether the water impeller in the outdrive has ever been replaced (should be done every 2-3 yrs) and whether it was properly winterized if needed. I would want to water test the boat also to make sure it starts, runs & handles properly & check to make sure all of the electrics work particularly things like the trim gauge. If the trim gauge doesn't work you may have to pull the outdrive to fix or replace it so that can be a little pricey. Check the overall cleanliness of the boat particularly in the bilge and floor locker areas. Check the hull for gouges thru to the fibreglass. Check to see what tops (convertible, bimini, storage and/or travel cover) come with the boat. If included, check the trailer tires etc for wear & tear and ask if the bearings have ever been replaced, check to ensure all of the trailer lights work. There's probably a few other things that i haven't thought of but that's a good start. The 4.3 will be an adequate motor with the 19'. It should provide decent performance (close to 48-50 mph top end), reasonable fuel consumption, enough grunt to haul around wakeboarders or skiiers and be comfortable on cruises. |
Re: Sx19
Thanks for that Mikey.
The owner has all the service receipts and assures me that everything works. Will check on those items. John |
