Default Bimini placement when towing

My Bimini top will not lay flat on the back of the boat for towing. I do not want to have to reinstall on sides each time we tow. Really a pain for one person to do by themselves. Currently, I have it laying in front of the windshield. Does not look streamlined there but works. As you can see from the attached photos, the bars of The top will not clear the sides of the windows.. Is there some adjustment I need to make, or is it just meant to be in front of windshield…as it is, it works fine. I would like to have it along back seat as most boats do. Get so many compliments on this boat and want her to look her best!

The top has a good top cover. Just put the ties around it to keep it from bouncing on the road.

I have seen many different mounting locations on these boats. None of them really fit well when stowed. Mine is similar to yours and when the cover is on, I leave it forward as in your 2nd photo. Underway, I put it back, and have replaced the rear straps with solid tubes that attach to pivot mounts and quick release pins at the rear. That way it stays up and out of the way when not in use.

Mine is mounted inside my side windows so it lays down fairly flat for towing.

Mikey, yours mounts inside the windows. My mounts are on the outside of them.

Gary, did you add the pivot mounts? My boat does not have those. I have seen them on others as well.

Smart man. Beyond my abilities, but a good solution.

I mounted my Bimini mounting outside of the windscreen and outside of the snaps for the snap on cockpit cover so that the top can be snapped on without removing the Bimini.
