Default now how do explain this one.....

on the way home we took advantage of the open water and opened her up a little bit...when we got up on plane i kinda felt like we were in one of those v8 commericals where we were walking at a 45 degree angle. instead the boat was @ a 45 degree angle. so other then a new lower unit , what is a good fix for this until i get a new lower unit when this one falls into the river.

First Im pretty sure that the only way of fixing this but depending on how many ours are on the boat i would just spend a bit more and get a whole reman unit.

the boat has 560 hours on it but the boat is a 1990.....the previous owner left the boat floating around in the ohio river for 8 years so a bit "breakdown" has occured on the outdrive. i sanded it down, primed and painted it last year in the hopes of getting a few more years outta this. i was looking at a Hydrofoil stabilizer but as u can tell im not sure how the connection would be made on the port side.

Clean it up and have a new chunk welded on.
Then save for a reman drive.

Ouch.... I had some damage done to my outdrive on the Z250, and took it to a Sea Ray of Cincinnati, as my family and I have dealt with them for many years. They sent it off to a company on the west side of town who was able to do some welding and get it back into good shape. Couldn't even tell there was any repairs. Unfortunately I lost the name of the company, but they also specialize in prop repair & refinishing. Might be worth giving Sea Ray of Cincinnati a call and see if they could be of any help, or give you the name of who does their outdrive & prop repair & refinishes? At any rate, sorry to see that, and I hope it's not too obnoxiously expensive to fix.

Oh, and stay away from hydrofoils. They're not very popular with MOC members, if you need balance and a smoother ride, Nauticus Smart Tabs.... Just about everyone here will verify that one for ya.

thank you. i believe the name you are trying to recall on the west side is delta props. sound right? it does not seem like a major thing just a mild annoyance.

It could have been Delta Props, but I'm not 100% certain. That was about 4 years ago... Too many frosty adult beverages since then...

I'd give them a try. There's really a limited number of people around here who work on sterndrives, and most of the dealers/service places just send the sterndrives & props to them for repair. If nothing else, maybe just get a professional opinion on if you could get through the remainder of the season with it, and you could just save up and replace it over the winter.

they do fix them...hopefully i can kill 2 birds with one stone get a new prop to go a bit faster and get the cavitation plate fixed. if they could do it in less then a weeks time i would do it sooner then later im gonna boat this season till the very end and dont want to damage anything else.....but like you said that is where the professional opinion !
