Default Trailer question asap input needed Thanks!

I have to go pick up a trailer tomorrow to enable me to pick up the 99 Mariah 202 I am purchasing from a local dealer (no trailer included or available for sale). I have seen these on single and dual axle trailers. I found this single axle that has potential to get me the brakes I want. I have experience towing but don't know squat about boat trailers. This thing had a 21 foot on it. Please tell me if you think this will work, if you tow a 20 ft 2500lb Mariah on a single axle, etc. The guy will take 750 for it. The only other option I can find is a non matching blue dual axle for 1200... and I can't really afford to spend that much. I do however need a trailer that will work for my boat. I know my buddy has` been pulling his 20ft bayliner (cringe...) on a single w/ no brakes for 4 years with no issues. My tow vehicle is a 2000 Durango r/t 5.9l 4wd. Thanks for the quick help guys. I have no time to make an error on a trailer purchase. Here's the one I'm looking at $750

19 to 21 Boat trailer

Are the brakes drum or disc? What brand/type of brake actuator?

    Please check the wheel bearings.

My opinion is budget 200-300 for brake n bearing fixup....

surge brakes, hydraulic drums. Needs shoes and one brake line. No problem for me to fix. Will the single axle be fine with my boat?

Weight limit for the axle is likely 3500lb - I would pull the axle specs just to make certain. Other thing to verify is the weight limit on the tires.

It looks pretty nice if you can make those small repairs.

so the single axle IS ok as long as it's 3500lbs. The guy said a 21 ft came off it. A tandem axle would be nice but it's not necessary? Is there any real detriment to having a single axle trailer with my boat?

Shouldn't be an issue - I strongly suggest having a spare tire!

I have a dual axle trailer for a Z240 - which is substantially heavier - and I actually had a wheel blow off while driving so having another axle was nice. It is one of the many calamities that are directly related to my Ex!

lol - now you DO have me worried about a single axle LOL
looking at internet pictures. I have seen a few 20ft boats on singles but it seems:
19 ft and under are on singles
    20ft and over on tandems
    ???
If this trailer works I'm good with it and I will be able to sleep tonight... lol. If you guys think I need to spend extra for a dual and that it would really be worth the extra I may keep looking. If not I found my trailer...
    Thanks for the help

I got a single axle for my 03 sx 19 that is 2800 pounds. It works good. Agree get a spare tire I just blew one and glad I had one.

Loosen the bunk mounts until they are moveable with hand force before you load , once boat is on , make sure it is sitting good on the bunks , then tighten the bunks up , strap her down , head home.
