Default alarm buzzer

My alarm is constantly buzzing. Oil pressure is good. Temp is good. Drive oil is full. I can't figure it out and I have a big trip coming up and the local shop is no help and are "way behind."

This gets discussed on a monthly basis around here. Try using the Site Search feature in the top right corner of the screen and enter "alarm". Here are a few threads for you to read...

So i went to further investigate the buzzing the other day. Keep in mind i had just had the boat in for service about two months prior. It never dawned on me to follow up on every little thing they did. I guess I should of. When I pulled the cap on the out-drive reservoir I noticed it was red fluid. I could of sworn that the out-drive oil was a dark blue color if you are using the quicksilver performance gear oil. I am guessing they put tranny fluid in the drive to save money on their end. Are there any drive fluids out that that are red that I might not be familiar with?

    This info from Sterndrives.com:

There are two types of drive lube. Premium and High Performance.
Older drives, such as the ones listed below use Mercruiser Premium Gear Lube.
R, MR, Alpha One, II, IITR, TR, TRS All used Premium although they can also use Mercruiser High Performance Gear Lube. The Mercruiser Premium Gear Lube looks translucent caramel in color.

Bravo One, Bravo Two and Bravo III's all MUST use High Performance Gear Lube. Alpha One Gen II drives also use High Performance Gear Lube.
High Performance Gear Lube has a Blueish-Green green color. It is specially formulated to work well with the Bravo style cone clutch system.

I would suggest speaking to your mechanic and asking him exactly what gear oil they used. Dont provide him with any other information that will help them such as the color of the oil you are finding.

i will be troubleshooting the buzzer Thursday but i wanted to check prior to the troubleshoot. I read on another post that they tan wire with the blue line is the signal wire and that is the one you want to disconnect to find the source. Oil pressure, engine temp, drive lube

You're correct. Tan with Blue.... Just because the reservoir's full doesn't mean the sensor couldn't go bad. Mine was consistently full yet still gave me an alarm until the shop replaced the reservoir and sensor. Problem solved.

I'd also swap out that red fluid and put some real mercruiser gear oil in it before you use it too much more.

i plan on swapping out fluid Thursday. while i am doing other work to the boat. i have the quicksilver mercruiser high performance fluid already and hope that all this fixes the issue. if the buzzer is the sensor in the drive reservoir i will just run it while on vacation over the 4th and then fix it after that.

It was the power steering fluid that was pink. Lol. Drive is good. The buzzing is coming from the thermostat on front of motor. When I disconnect the wire it stops. When I connect it it goes off. It's a fairly new sensor. I tried to swap the plugs but it still went off. I don't get it.

It's the port side sensor. Local shop doesn't have the part. Is this the high temp sensor or the other one? I know one sounds buzzer during high temps.
