I am purchasing a 2001 BR 212, Title doesn't say, P.O. doesn"t know. How can I find out?

Certainly looks like a 212 or Z212 Shabah from 2001. Check out the hull id against this post by our Admin.

the HIN info page doesn't tell you much. But I read somewhere in the post's that Z212 is etched in the starboarb glass and I remember seeing it. This is a nice boat but I am really wondering about $15800. Brand new 5.7 merc. vortex throttle body engine. One year warranty. Some issues with no carpet, cracked bench seat vinyl, a few scratches, no cover?????

Sounds a little steep in my opinion, but these old boats are hard to price. The bottom line is, how much would you be willing to pay for it? I also recommend having a professional check it out before buying. I've known a lot of people to get burned by buying "nice boats"

Mine is(etched in the side glass), but I wouldn't count on that. It does have stainless docking lights, although mine is a Z and they are not stainless.

May not matter much if its a Z or not, if it has the features you like. Although your description of its condition does not sound like it has had very good care. That would be my concern. The price does sound high to me, even though mine is seven years older, I paid less than half of that and it is in very well cared for condition.

Just to let you guys know, the model number isn't "etched" into the glass. It's a vinyl decal that looks like etching. I've seen many that have been damaged or fallen off. In fact, I've made some replacements for for a few members.

The Z features on the Z212 are the following: (as listed in 2001 brochure)

Battery Saver charger
External Tilt switch on transom
Faria electronic compass
Keyless Ignition
Trip odometer
Window Defogger
Power Drivers seat

If it has these options, then it's definitely a Z.

Price sounds high for having no carpet, damage to the vinyl, scratches and no cover...

Yes, this is true. I knew that and spaced out when it was reffered to like it was.

It does look like etching if you havnt seen it up close and personal though. Its just vinyl.

Well it is definitly a Z and it probably is a little high, but I am still probably going to buy it, because it is nice, the vinyl damage is only the bench seat and scratches are minor, any covers I ever got with a boat were crap and I have always had to buy the bimini tops. Unless some one can tell me an inherent problem with the structure (wood floors, weak hull or anything else) I will buy it. The engine and out drive are something I will take my chances on because the engine is a brand new ( one year warranty) Merc. vortec 350 Mag/ w/TB injection crate motor and the outdrive is fresh. Sooooo how good were the 2001 Mariah boats?? The members on this forum should know---maybee alittle biased- but should know. thanks
