Default Fuel Sending Unit

I have a 93 Barchetta (not a Z). I need to replace the fuel sending unit. I see 3 wires. The pink is for the sending unit. The black is ground. What is the green wire for? Does any body have an idea?

hey weezer, i belive the green wire is a ground wire that grounds your fuel filler door,(cap ) to the fuel tank . to pevent staic electricty from createing a spark as you add gas to your tank

Thanks for the reply. But, I thought the black wire was the ground (according to the schematic). Are there 2 grounds?

Hi Weezer, I believe 64*thunderbolt is absolutely correct, and that would mean the green wire is a secondary ground from the gas cap back to the tank. It's necessary because the boats hull being fiberglass does not act as a ground and since the gas cap is connected to the main tank by a rubber hose the green wire is necessary for the reason stated by 64*thunderbolt.

Amazon has them by the dozens. Get one with a 33 - 240 ohm range.
