Hi folks, my 96 Z255 has an odd problem with the dash instrument lamp dimmer, it seems when you turn on the nav lights, the dash lights glow very dim (red in color) now check this out. if I honk the horn, they get brighter and work off the dimmer knob, if I turn the knob a few times, dim to bright etc. it falls back into the dim state, and the only way to make them brighter is to honk the horn. I removed the dimmer knob and board, and found a resistor was getting red hot, I mean red hot as in could start fire. so I unplugged the board, and now have no dash lights. I was going to just replace all components on the board to see if that works, or just try and find a new replacement unit. any ideas?

Jeff, what I know about electricity you could write in the palm of your hand, but that sounds like a grounding problem.....
